Mallorca without a car: where to stay & what to check
Plan Mallorca without a car: compare Palma and a beach base, check airport buses, and work out whether a few rental days fit your trip.

Which option fits your trip?
Start with Palma if your plans centre on the city and bus-connected outings. For a beach holiday, choose a base where your hotel, beach and meals are within a walk you can comfortably manage. A rental car becomes more useful when your chosen stops are scattered across the island. Compare those actual journeys before paying for a car for the whole stay.

Which base fits your actual plans?
Palma city stay
You want a city-focused itinerary and can choose accommodation around walking routes and bus stops.
Before booking: Compare the airport bus stop with the hotel address. A car adds parking costs even on days when you walk everywhere.
One beach base
Most days will be spent near the accommodation, with occasional excursions.
Before booking: Check the exact airport route and final stop. An airport bus serving a resort does not mean every hotel is within easy walking distance.
Exploring several areas
You have specific places to visit that do not fit a convenient public transport itinerary.
Before booking: Price a few rental days as well as the full stay. Add collection time, parking, fuel and any one-way charge; compare deposit requirements separately.
Plan the connection before booking the room
EMT Palma identifies A1 as the airport–Palma centre route. For the north of the island, TIB publishes route A32 between the airport and Can Picafort, with stops along the route. Check current stops and operating dates with the relevant operator before choosing a hotel around a connection.

Make the comparison fit your trip
Start by choosing the kind of holiday you want: a beach base, time in the city or days exploring different parts of the island. That decision is more useful than picking a hotel solely from its photos.
For a beach-focused stay, check the actual walking route and whether the approach suits your group. For a city stay, compare walking distances and public transport. Ask about noise and room position if quiet evenings matter to you.
If renting a car, include parking and pickup time in your budget. A few rental days may suit your plans better than a car for the whole holiday. Check seasonal opening times for any attractions you build your itinerary around.
Questions before booking
Can you get from Palma airport to your hotel without a car?
Aena lists the A1 bus to Palma centre and A2 towards S’Arenal. For Alcúdia, Platja de Muro and Can Picafort, check the TIB airport services for your dates and exact stop. Match the hotel address to the walking route, then check the return journey separately. A route serving the resort does not guarantee a convenient connection to every hotel, especially after a late flight.
Is it cheaper to rent a car for only part of a Mallorca holiday?
Compare two full quotes: a car for the entire stay, and airport transfers plus a few rental days. Include parking, fuel, selected cover and collection costs in both. Divide the extra cost of the full-stay option by the additional days you would actually use it. If the car would sit parked, compare that amount with the bus or taxi journeys you need. Keep the refundable deposit separate from spending.
COMPARE THE WHOLE TRIP
Which trip really costs less?
Enter totals for your entire travel group and the whole stay, in the same currency. Include mandatory charges once. Leave a field blank only if that cost does not apply. These are your estimates, not live quotes; nothing is saved or sent.
Ready to check availability?
